LOCAL ROOTS IS A FOOD TRUCK + CATERING COMPANY BASED IN TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA.
WE ARE ALL ROOTED IN SOMETHING. AT LOCAL ROOTS WE ARE DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE BELIEF THAT A GOOD MEAL HAS THE POWER TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER, AND THAT BREAKING BREAD WITH OTHERS IS AN EXPERIENCE THAT FEEDS OUR SOULS AS MUCH AS IT FEEDS OUR BODIES.
"Much of our inspiration comes from our generational roots, especially my grandfather, Harold Willcutt. Harold was a hard-working, southern man who loved his garden. To him his garden was his way of life. No matter how long his days, he would always take pride and joy in tending to his crops. They were delicious--full of colors and flavors. Watching him care for the food he was growing was inspirational and even spiritual. That's why, for us, there is nothing better than growing a crop from good soil and sharing it with others. We believe that is one of the greatest ways to connect with someone, and it is the purpose behind everything we do here at Local Roots."

ABOUT OUR CHEF
Brandon Wiman, Executive Chef of Local Roots LLC, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Over the course of his career he has worked with some of the best chefs in the Southeast, including James Beard Award Winner Chris Hastings of Hot and Hot Fish Club, David Bancroft of Acre, and Neville Baay and Brian Somershield of El Barrio and Paramount.
Brandon’s affinity for food and fellowship started during his childhood. Brandon grew up in Alabama and comes from a long line of southerners who love to bring people together around a table. His earliest memories of family always revolve around a fantastic meal. Love and food have always been synonymous in his family, and that is the feeling he tries to bring to every plate he serves to this day. Brandon believes that excellent ingredients are what make incredible food. He is constantly striving to find local suppliers in and around Tuscaloosa who are growing, raising, or producing the best products from which to create his next dish. When Brandon is not in the kitchen, you will find him enjoying his other great love - the outdoors. Brandon is an avid camper, photographer, mountain biker, canoeist, and general outdoorsman. You might find him backpacking to a remote campsite to get away from it all, or paddling a river with his closest friends.
Brandon is very excited to share his passion for delicious food with the people of Tuscaloosa and the surrounding areas. He hopes that his creations will continue to bring friends, family, and communities together around something we all love - awesome food!
